Today I am driving the 300 miles back home then going to get some work done. I am also visiting with the other side of my family this weekend so I need to get back.

I have my car loaded up with my gifts and money and it is time to hit the road!

Today I am visiting with family, exchanging gifts, and eating entirely too much food. I must admit that this holiday is not what it used to be. I think it is for the better in my case.

I am very much the minimalist for this holiday as I do not want to spend too much money. I got a nice bonus at work which is helpful and some ok gifts otherwise. All I really want is to be back on the road again. This is not the life for me.

I woke up this morning after a long drive down after work last night. I headed over to my grandmother’s house to set up office and get ready for my 9AM call from a contractor in Detroit. I worked remotely all day.

Today was mostly me just working on the company laptop and getting some things done that I could not get to in the office. I went out for lunch and got the last of my Christmas shopping done and then worked until 6PM.

I enjoy working remotely and wish I could do this everyday from some other country where my dollar goes a lot further and I could be living or traveling in a culture that I feel more a part of. Maybe one day I can do this full time.

Today I am driving 300 miles / 4.5 hours home for Christmas. I am leaving directly from work and will arrive around 11:30pm. I have to work remote tomorrow which should be “fun.”

I will return to Atlanta on Friday.

Today was a very long day. I got up at 4AM to fly to LGA and head off to the first job site. I took a cab, in New York fashion, of course. I did the work there and headed for a quick lunch at Wendy’s ($7!). Took the Subway over to Brooklyn for the second stop.

I got the job done there and came back outside to snow. Keeping in mind it was 60F when I left Atlanta! I do not have the proper clothes for this type of weather. Fortunately it was my last stop of the day and all I had to do was head over to JFK to fly home.

Travel Tip: Turns out this takes over 1 hour on the Subway. It only cost $7 which is not bad. I had to go back into Manhattan and over to Queens. This cost $2. I then took the Air Train to JFK for $5. I was in time to change to the 4:40PM flight home.

I ended up running through JFK to be the last one on the plane. One saving grace was that I was handed my first class upgrade when I reached the gate. Free drinks and food! It was also an international configured plane and was a nice flight. I got home early enough to go get a beer first.

It was an exhausting day but a nice change of pace. I got some miles out of the deal and New York is always a cool city to wander around. Maybe next time I can stay and see more.

I ended up having to go straight to work off the plane setting up for the reception. I had to crawl around on a roof for 3 hours for all the lighting and help hang it. I then went to my dad’s house to get dressed for the wedding and headed over.

The wedding was fairly short and we headed to the (dry) reception. We had a champagne toast otherwise no alcohol. The band was good and I got to visit with some family that I don’t see to often. I then found out that I had to tear it all down that night. We finished around 1AM. I was quite tired.

Today I went to breakfast with my dad and uncle, visited with my grandma for a bit and headed off to the airport to come back. I went with my cousin around town for a bit. I made it back to Atlanta and now getitng things unpacked and ready for work tomorrow.

Today I am flying home on a Skymiles award ticket to go to my cousins wedding tonight. I will stay the night and come back tomorrow evening. The flight is about 30 minutes long. I don’t even leave the state!

I am looking forward to food from my favorite restaurant back home. I am not looking forward to having to wear an uncomfortable suit!

So it turns out that I am going on a day trip to New York next Tuesday. I have to go visit a few client sites but I will have a much needed change in pace. I got a great deal on the airfare at $157 all in for a same day return.

I fly into LGA and back out of JFK. I am of course flying Delta to get more miles and it was cheapest. I wish I could spend more time there but work is work.

Back to work

I am now back from Belize after 12 hours in transit. I must say I miss the beach and warm weather. Not to mention the cheapness, cool people, and awesome food. I am working today and the drastic change in weather seems to have given me a head cold.

It is raining and 40F out today. A drastic difference from 80F, sunny, and breezy Caye Caulker. I will try to get my photos up tomorrow.

Today I am heading home. I fly from Caye Caulker to Atlanta via Belize City and Miami. I have some long layovers to make a total of 12 hours in transit. It seems a bit long but at the price I got on the airfare I cannot complain.

Hopefully my bag makes it all the way!
