A friend of mine called me up today and we had lunch at a great local ethnice restaurant called El Quetzal (which is also the Guatemala currency). It is an authentic Guatemalan place with great food and fresh tortillas made before your eyes. I left there stuffed with good soup, steak, rice, beans, and of course endless tortillas.
They also import sodas from Central America. They are all served in glass bottles with import stickers on them. They do have traditional sodas made in Guatemala and also Coke/Pepsi products from Mexico. We had the chicken soup and we shared the steak. The soup had a vegtable that resembles a squash but is very large and green.
I also liked the fact that the place was croweded and almost no one spoke English. This is the sign of a good place. I will definitely add this to my list of great places and go back!
