I have been keeping up with a forum on skymiles programs and It turns out that it will soon most likely cost more miles to fly where I want. This makes me even happier that I have booked my flight to Colombia now–potentially before it will cost me more.
This will ultimately effect my future travel plans depending on how much it will cost me to leave the country. I am now focusing more on saving money but will still use miles to my best advantage until they run out. I will also continue to use them for my vacations so I save money along the way as well.
Delta is going to a three tier system that will ultimately cost us program users more if we are not flexible with our dates. I am not happy about this but do not have much choice based on Delta dominance here in Atlanta and they do have one of the best travel networks worldwide.
The only way I can combat the devaluation is to earn more miles. I have found a couple of ways, namely skymiles shopping and skymiles dining, where I can earn more on top of my normal spending. This is starting to add up and I hope it will continue as I continue on.
