One of my main projects is to handle all of my business in such a way where it does not require me to have a fixed address. I have a lot of the items covered and some still in process. I am working on a list of things I need to be able to acomplish with my Macbook Pro and an internet connection.
- Accounting and Bill Pay/Money - READY - quickbooks, online banking and bill pay, electronic money movement, paypal, etc.
- Filing System - IN PROCESS - Scan all important items to PDF and store with backups
- Phone - READY - American Skype-In (or vonage) Number forward to prepaid cellphone (iPhone) in each place
- Fax - READY - efax.com or similar service
- Official Business Address - READY - Dad’s house (hehe) — for absolute need situations
- Meetings - READY - Webcam, Skype, Headset — same with conference calls (or vonage)
- Backups - READY - Burn DVDs, External HDD, Flash drive, Online
- Internet Access - READY - Net Cafes, Wifi, GPRS/cell phone access
I am about 90% there. Ongoing filekeeping will be challenging if I get anything in paper form. Worst case I can use a scanner at an internet cafe and make my pdfs from the images. I am happy that all of these things are available to allow me to be free.
